Happy New Year Lovelies!! I hope that you have started off the new year with a bang... and for those of you who are planning a wedding for 2017, here are a few trends to consider in the coming year.
Elaborate entrances and reveals of the venue spaces with over the top décor and unique entertainment that grabs guest's attention are beginning to be what my couples seek after.
Wedding flowers are becoming more simple and green garden inspired with more garlands and organic bouquets and centerpieces as the chosen options for wedding décor.
Creative and fun icebreakers have become the trend now at most weddings as couples are looking for ways to engage their guests ... whether through food stations, lawn games or taking a note from comedian/actor Kevin Hart and his wife Eniko Hart; provide your guest with a carnival filled with rides, games and prizes to boot.
Expect to see wedding color palettes of more dreamy neutral tones with bright accents such as navy, grey, blush, cream and gold paired with glass and metallic. And wedding themes are taking a more rustic turn as well.
Expect to see more couples looking up for inspiration in their wedding décor. From drapery, string lighting, luxurious candelabras, beautiful chandeliers of all sizes and shapes and creative hanging props. They're taking advantage of the vertical visual space and highlighting it in very unique ways.
For my millennials, we're looking to have more Techy Effects like custom snapchat geofilters, custom wedding bands, favors or even live streaming of the ceremony as more venues are offering this service into their wedding packages.
Expect to see bridal fashion take a great leap toward this new trend of adding color. No more all white palettes and no more traditional looks in the dresses as bride's are becoming more creative and bold.
And while some still opt to have a few dress options for their ceremony and the reception, other brides who are looking to save a little money are choosing a dress with a removable skirt that offers them the option to have both a stunning ball gown and the sheath dress all in one.
Dessert options are becoming more dynamic where couples are starting to opt out of the tradition to embrace other sweet alternatives like doughnuts, cookies, Ice cream or homemade pies like the MTV The Hills star Lauren Conrad and her husband William Tell did for their big day. However, for those who are still interested in having a cake, they are going the route of a more elaborate statement or artistic route in choosing the style and look of their cake.
Expect to see wedding food become the key factor for the trend this year as couples are being creative in the menu, selecting options not so traditional or in choosing to serve different variations of snacks and/or meals throughout the day. They're even offering late night snack options and adding an extra course beyond the salad and entrée.
The final trend for weddings in 2017 is the gift registry and how more couples are opting out of household items and moving more toward other alternatives like the gift of giving instead, where couples ask their guest to donate to their favorite charity. Some couples are asking for donations toward their honeymoon and others are asking for donations toward the purchase of their first home together.
